One of those adages with which we grew up was that seeing-is-believing. We now know that this is not only no-longer true—it was never true. Our field of vision is so narrowly focused that we miss more than we could ever possibly accept until we reach a position of hindsight bringing clarity of vision.

We even try to limit the field of God’s vision to our human standard. We find it to be very difficult to grasp the Omnipresence of God: that he is everywhere at all times! Listen to the prophet in Jeremiah 23.23-24: ‘Am I only a God nearby,’ declares the LORD, ‘and not a God far away?’ There is no place in which God is not to be found.

Only when we come to grips with this Omnipresence of our God can we begin to appreciate the fact that we can never get away from him! Jeremiah continues: ‘Can anyone hide in secret places so that I cannot see him?’ declares the LORD. Think about this reality when it comes to wearing fig leaves to cover our own sins—hiding them from each other—and from God.

Beloved, let us begin to approach God as he presents himself to us. We are always in his field of vision—he sees us every moment of time. Jeremiah then concludes: ‘Do not I fill heaven and earth?’ declares the LORD. Even more startling is the fact that he is always looking at us because he loves us so much that he can’t take his eyes off us! WE ARE ALWAYS IN GOD’S EYE!
