There is hardly anything more beautiful that a perfect sunrise. Oh, there are those just-as-beautiful sunsets, but I prefer the sunrises because it bodes fair for another terrific day, wherein the sunset brings the day to a close. The sunrise is the beginning, the fresh outbreak of a new and glorious opportunity. WOW!

The Prophet Isaiah clearly has the sunrise in mind when he shares about walking with God in 60.1-2: ‘Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.’ Yeah, this is clearly the sunrise imagery here. The point—this is a new day in the Lord! WAKE UP! GET UP! LIVE IN THE LIGHT!

And why on earth would God be so excited about a new day? Because he knows that we have been given the answer to every question of darkness in the world. Isaiah continues: ‘See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you.’ Think about that!

When people locked into the darkness of their own lives glance toward us they are to be surprised. We are those who stand and walk and jump and dance and skip and run in the light of the Lord’s new day! They will first see the light in us; see their own darkness; and hopefully choose to seek the light and join the enlightened bunch! CAN YOU SEE THAT? SHINE ON, IN AND THROUGH ME!
