I think nostalgia can be a good thing. My memory goes back to the television show with Jack Webb entitled, “Dragnet” where one of the catch phrases was, “Just the facts!” Do you remember that? The quest was for the simple truth without shading it or painting it or shining it up—just the simple truth. That doesn’t seem like too much to ask, does it?

Christians often have difficulty relating the simple facts about their relationship with Jesus Christ lest it make them look better than they want to appear. Paul gives the facts in 2 Corinthians 1.12-14: ‘Now this is our boast: our conscience testifies that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially in our relations with you, in the holiness and sincerity that are from God.’ Clear as a new pane of glass.

The simple truth is that a relationship between believers is not to be clouded by worldly concerns, but rather by God’s standards. Paul continues: ‘We have done so not according to worldly wisdom but according to God’s grace. For we do not write you anything you cannot read or understand.’ This is to be very clear for all to see.

Our walk with the Lord needs to be crystal clear in the power of the Holy Spirit so that others can see Christ in us, and follow us to him. Paul concludes: ‘And I hope that, as you have understood us in part, you will come to understand fully that you can boast of us just as we will boast of you in the day of the Lord Jesus.’ And I WILL BOAST OF YOU TO MY GOD AND TO ALL OTHERS!
