I was asked the other day if I had ever yet seen Jesus. I found that to be a very interesting question coming from one who was renting me a car at the time. I did answer in the affirmative, sharing that I had recently visited Rome and had many an opportunity to see my Lord—and I did—more than once! And what a thrill!

I know what the prophet was describing in Daniel 7.13-14: ‘In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence.’ Daniel was describing Jesus in a way I have seen him, except I saw him seated on the Throne of God in the Kingdom of heaven.

Daniel continues in his detailed description of Jesus as the Anointed One of God, and the handing over of the gifts of the Father into the hands of his Son: ‘He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all peoples, nations and men of every language worshiped him.’ The details go farther than the time of the coming of the Messiah—this speaks to the end of days.

Those of us who are believers will personally see the fulfillment of this prophecy. The end, as Daniel relates: ‘His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.’ It is great to dream of all of this—to envision it. But we can see Jesus even today as we look for him in the lives and ministries of those who faithfully serve him.
