Every single one of us has a dream of some kind. There is something we want more than anything else in the world, and our interest is in securing that dream if at all possible, and at whatever cost. Dreams are just that, however, and many will never see theirs manifest as they wish. That may be sad, but that is the way of this life, isn’t it?

This is one of the reasons that followers of Jesus Christ are led to lay their own dreams at the altar of the Lord in order that his dream might be fulfilled in our lives. That is no easy thing to do, but our Lord is gracious and he will give us time to acclimate our hope of following him to what is necessary for his dream for us to be accomplished.

We learn of ten virgins who each dreamed of being married to the Prince, and all they had to do was to wait for the right moment to enter the bridal chamber. They all heard the approach of their groom, but only half of them were prepared to enter. The rest had not paid close attention to the requirements for entry as they had been established.

We read of the trauma in Matthew 25.10-12: But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut. Later the others also came. ‘Sir! Sir!’ they said. ‘Open the door for us!’ But he replied, ‘I tell you the truth, I don’t know you.’ It is vital for us to be ready when the Lord approaches, in order that we may enter his presence, having all of our dreams fulfilled. BE ONE OF THE READY ONES!
