Have you ever known people who spent their lives in a relationship with God that was “in your face”? You know what I mean. I have seen individuals at every point on the spectrum of response to the Almighty from totally ignoring his existence to outright belligerence—a “flipping-off” of Father God. This is not a good thing.

God is God whether we like it or not; or if we accept that as reality or not; or if we rejoice in his presence in our lives. God has a plan for each of us, and how we respond to his Lordship will determine the end result of how that plan plays out for each of us. But the initial step for all is to accept the reality that God is God!

King David writes of God’s perfect will for us—that we must lay our own lives, hopes, dreams, and goals before his Throne. They may be good in and of themselves, but they often get in the way of God working out his plan in our lives. In order to enter into his best we must clear out all of those things which may interfere.

David writes in Psalm 51.17: The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise. God doesn’t desire to break our hearts! He wants for us to break ourselves in favor of him! If I will lay down my stuff—IN FAVOR OF HIS STUFF—God will honor me with his presence in my life for my good. I will to be broken for his best in and for my life!
