Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you were so excited that you just could not control your behavior, no matter what anyone thought about it? Those times are rare, but they are unforgettable when they occur, and we will tell our grandchildren about them when the time is right. You know of what I speak.

That’s what happened to King David when he heard about the blessings on the household of the man who was keeping the Ark of the Covenant while the Temple was about to be built. We read of it in 2 Samuel 6.12-15: Now King David was told, ‘The LORD has blessed the household of Obed-Edom and everything he has, because of the ark of God.’

David knew of the blessing of God, and he did not want to miss out on that again. We read: So David went down and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-Edom to the City of David with rejoicing. When those who were carrying the ark of the LORD had taken six steps, he sacrificed a bull and a fattened calf. David turned the movement of the Ark of the Covenant into a worship experience as he brought it up the hill into Jerusalem.

He was so caught up in the experience of God that he lost control of himself: David, wearing a linen ephod, danced before the LORD with all his might, while he and the entire house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouts and the sound of trumpets. Sometimes we just need to lose control of ourselves in the presence of God, and dance in his presence. God will honor that gift by blessing our dancing with his holiness in residence. WHAT A JOY!
