I want for you to place yourself in the center of God’s will for a few moments—let everything else drift for a brief time. Listen to what Joshua relates about the God of Israel in 21.43-45: So the LORD gave Israel all the land he had sworn to give their forefathers, and they took possession of it and settled there.

Did you notice that God gave them the land of promise? God gave it to them, and they took it and settled there. To settle means to be established. Listen again to Joshua: The LORD gave them rest on every side, just as he had sworn to their forefathers. God fulfilled his promise to these succeeding generations, and they were able to become settled in the land.

The reality is that no other people were able to withstand the people of God—he had promised the land, and he had delivered it into their hands. Joshua then continues: Not one of their enemies withstood them; the LORD handed all their enemies over to them. They settled-in while God brought their enemies under their control—they were not subject to threat from anyone at any time.

What a God we see here—everything he ever promised was fulfilled! It was the God of Israel who made it all work out. Joshua concludes: Not one of all the LORD’s good promises to the house of Israel failed; every one was fulfilled. Do you realize that the God who blessed Israel is the same God who blesses us? You may be settled in the reality that every promise he ever made is kept for you! And our God will never fail to provide his blessed presence for you. IT IS SETTLED!
