Are you aware of just how often we take it upon ourselves to tell God how to run his kingdom? It seems valid—as we grapple with the stuff of life—that we have a clear picture of what needs to happen for all things to work out for the best for us, and for the Kingdom of God. If he would only listen to us, all would work out well.

Abraham had a plan for his future, which was clearly based upon what God had said to him so long before. He would have an heir by whom his legacy would be fulfilled. God’s plan was different from Abraham’s plan. Moses writes in Genesis 15.4-6:  Then the word of the LORD came to him: ‘This man will not be your heir, but a son coming from your own body will be your heir.’

This had to be a shock to his system! He was ninety years old! Moses continues: He took him outside and said, ‘look up at the heavens and count the stars—if indeed you can count them.’ Then he said to him, ‘so shall your offspring be.’ God’s vision was vastly greater than Abraham’s ability to see.

But, Moses concludes: Abram believed the LORD, and he credited it to him as righteousness. It takes a great deal of faith to believe God when he gives us one of his revelations about our own future. The best way in which to respond to our Father is to believe him, and move forward in faith. I CHOOSE TO BE A BELIEVER!
