One of the principle factors in our faith walk is that of obedience to what our God and Father said to us—whether we like it or agree with it or not! Now that we have come to faith in Jesus Christ, and have been empowered by God’s Holy Spirit, we no longer live in ignorance. Therefore, we must always obey God.

Saint Peter makes this point clearly in his First Epistle 1.14-16: ‘As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance.’ Before we knew God through Jesus we lived in ignorance! And those things we held as most important to us were self-generated, and as such—evil.

As we now walk by faith, we are to live lives of holiness—we are called to be holy! Impossible, you say? Not at all! Holiness has nothing to do with the qualities of your own life—is has to do with what God has done in your life. You—can be holy? No, you are holy in Jesus Christ! The Holy Spirit in you makes you holy!

How do we know what holy is? By doing what the Lord has done in us. Peter continues: ‘But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: Be holy, because I am holy.’ If we are hanging around with Jesus, we cannot avoid being holy! Like it or not, YOU ARE HOLY NOW!
